字首 mis- 表示「不好；錯誤；缺乏」等否定、背離、不適宜的意思。少數表否定意思的動詞前面再加上 mis-，主要是用來加強語氣，表示懷疑的態度。如：misdoubt（懷疑；擔心）。

Jenny misunderstood what I said, and now she is unhappy with me.

misuse n., v. 誤用；濫用；虐待
Without proper management, money is often misused.
