字首 dia- 表示 through、across（穿越；跨越），可指兩端點之間，而有「在……之間」的意思，也可指涵蓋從一端到另一端的範圍，而有 thoroughly（完全；徹底）的意思。之後接母音時，dia- 拼成 di-。
